Smart Grips For iPad

Smart Grips: Non-Slip Grip Strips For iPad

Smart Grip FAQ

What Are Smart Grips?

Smart Grips are a pair of thin, translucent, non-slip grip strips that attach to the back of your new iPad or iPad 2.

Smart Grips make your iPad easier to use, easier to carry, and help protect its back when you set it down.

How Are They Applied?

Use the provided wipes to clean the back of your iPad. Then just peel off the adhesive backing, line 'em up, and stick 'em on.

How Are They Removed?

All you need to do is gently peel them off. Any residual adhesive can be easily removed with the provided wipes or a clean, damp cloth, but that's usually not needed.

The adhesive chosen for Smart Grips is a special UV resistant, non-yellowing formula. It's designed to be strong, but not permanent.

Can't I just Use Some Rubber Feet?

Well… you can try it, of course. Thing is, rubber feet only solve half the problem. Feet protect the iPad when you set it down on a table, but do little to make it easier to read or carry.

And most of the feet you buy from your local hardware store will catch on things in your bag, slide out of position, and eventually fall off. (We know, we tried almost all of them.)

Can't I just Use Some Tape And Get The Same Effect?

Sorry, but again, no. First, most brands of tape don't have enough texture or grip to do the job. Second, they're not thick enough to keep the back of your iPad up off the table and away from harm.

Third, the glue used on most tapes will "bleed" over time, making a mess. (In other words, we tried them too.)

Can I Use Them With The iPad 2 And The New 3rd/4th Generation iPad

Absolutely. That's what they're designed to fit. And the new iPad is so close in design to the the iPad 2 that Apple's Smart Covers fit both.

Can I Use Them With The Orginal iPad (iPad 1)?

Half and half. The Smart Grips will make the iPad easier to hold, but the original iPad's back is curved and the center of the tablet sticks out past the Smart Grips. As such, they won't do much to protect the back when you set it down on a table or other flat surface.
